How is exact age calculated?

Legal and everyday age is counted in completed calendar units: full years first, then remaining full months, then leftover days — not by dividing total days by 365. Someone born 15 March 2000 turns exactly 26 years, 3 months, 20 days old on 5 July 2026, with leap years handled by the calendar itself.

The 'as of' date makes the tool useful beyond curiosity: visa forms, school admissions and competitions often require your age on a specific cutoff date rather than today.

  2. 02Optionally pick a reference date (defaults to today).

Frequently asked questions

How is exact age calculated?
The tool counts full years first, then remaining full months, then leftover days — the same way ages are stated legally. Leap years are handled automatically.
Can I calculate age at a past or future date?
Yes. Set the optional 'as of' date to any date — useful for forms that ask your age on a specific deadline.
Is my date of birth stored?
No. The calculation runs entirely in your browser and nothing is saved or sent anywhere.
